A "blinded window" Trompe L'oeil
In prior centuries, taxes were collected based on the number of windows in a structure. To reduce their taxes, many windows were "blinded". The Trompe L'oeil style (painted to look real) here depicts Nicolas Rolin Chancellor of Burgundy who constructed Hotel Dieu in Beaune.
